MMW: I Did Not Sit by the Ocean

We are a little crazy and we did it…

I can’t think of a better way to spend my Saint Patricks Day, then to spend it listening to the best music, at a breathtaking venue, with beautiful people, in my favorite city. After SXMusic Festival we took a detour to Miami to see one of my favorite fellow Persians, who happens to also be an internationally renowned DJ-producer, Behrouz, to support his Miami Music Week event and dance to his as well as many other artists, awesome beats at the “Do Not Sit by the Ocean” party. This proved to be another magical, beautiful day with 12 hours of awesome music and I don’t regret one minute of it. Just for context and so you are in the loop, we live in Washington D.C. but we try to see Behrouz as often as possible. I recently saw him at “Do Not Sit on the Furniture” in Miami in January where we actually met for the first time through introduction of a close family friend I hadn’t seen in over 20 years!  We see him whenever he comes to Flash in DC and if we happen to be in the same city as a gig he’s playing at, we are definitely there. We left SXM on Wednesday evening and headed to sunny Miami, Florida for the event. We went to see Acid Pauli at Basement the night before, which was also a really great night. Acid Pauli is eclectic and talented and when his remix of Jamie and Selda came on, the crowd went wild. That song just does something to my soul, I don’t know. Back to “Do Not Sit by the Ocean”, artists such as Bedouin, Atish, Lee Burridge, Hoj, Yokoo and Alex Niggeman were in this epic line up. The venue was called “The Deck Lounge At Island Gardens” located in downtown Miami and it was my first time visiting it. The day included the most picturesque views of downtown Miami, a great crowd and really sick music. One of the highlights of my day was chatting with Behrouz as well as Lee Burridge again, twice in the same week, more hugs and more positivity from them both. Lee Burridge was just as pleasant as he was at the sunrise party in Saint Marten and I am looking forward to seeing him again at one of the ADID parties this summer. We are lucky that wherever we go, the loving and positive vibe follows. I am looking forward to this event next year, kudos Behrouz and we look forward to seeing you at Flash in DC again very soon!

Ciao!
