The legendary Prince has passed away at the age of 57 and most people on social media mourn the loss of one of the greatest artists of all time. Members of the music community are also mourning this loss and paying tribute to his musical contributions today. Maceo Plex, Hernan Cattaneo, Nicolas Jaar, The Black Madonna and Richie Hawtin are amongst those offering their thoughts. Few artists have created work as expansive and diverse as Prince. In each album he released, he showed remarkable musical variety, always experimenting with different sounds, feelings and genres. Prince was a musical force, period. He was one of the first artists to have complete control over his released materials. “When Eric Clapton was asked how it felt to be the world’s best guitarist he replied: ‘I don’t know. Ask Prince.'”
