ADID Cities New York

Be A Rainbow In Someone’s Cloud

The techno and pizza team traveled to New York City in hopes of an epic Cityfox Experience. Unfortunately, those plans were derailed, yet again. We understand that it is difficult to coordinate an event of this magnitude, however, we can’t hide our disappointment. Instead of focusing on the negatives, let’s take this moment to reflect on some events that were wildly successful, even when the odds were stacked against them.

All Day I Dream in the Park was simply amazing. ADID was able to overcome all the restrictions that come with having a music festival in Golden Gate Park. This was the first time that a musical festival had attempted to accomplish this feat. Many people doubted that ADID would be able to overcome all the red tape; those doubts were alleviated as soon as you saw the signature blue and purple banners billowing in the wind. The enthusiasm exhibited by San Franciscans was a sight to behold. Everyone showed up with their blankets, picnic gear, and good vibes, ready to party. The weather and scenery couldn’t have been more beautiful. It was such a unique experience to be surrounded by the juxtaposition of a breathtaking natural environment and the manmade beauty of costume and festival attire. Everywhere you looked, there was something interesting to be seen. I was already enthralled with the sights and I hadn’t even gotten to the sounds! First, there was the sound of the wind through the trees, crashing of ocean waves, calls of birds, mixed with the sounds of crystal bowls during the sound healing yoga session. It was mixture of man and nature that you couldn’t replicate. Then, the melodic sounds of Hoj and Lee Burridge blended seamlessly into the environment, while beckoning people to come dance. To add to the uniqueness, special guest, Bob Moses, gave a performance that gave a different feel than I’ve ever experienced at an All Day I Dream event.

All Day I Dream of Sublime Summertime was another outrageously successful event. Facing similar adversity that plagues Cityfox, ADID struggled to find a venue in the exclusive New York City. The Brooklyn Mirage failed to be an adequate venue, but instead of canceling, ADID relocated to Governor’s Island. After having found another host, unpleasant weather omens started to plague the sublime summertime affair. When the Governor’s Ball (held on Governor’s Island) canceled due to inclement weather, the future of the ADID party didn’t look promising. There were, again, many doubters, but for those who persevered, they were rewarded. Even when sets got interrupted during a torrential downpour, everyone was determined to overcome the adversity. The energy was ablsotuely incredible; several people remarked that the party had a positive blue aura surrounding it. The communal blending of positive energy couldn’t be dampened by a little rain. Death on the Balcony’s, Mark Caramelli later told me, “It’s not the victory, it’s the struggle.” The way people came together and refused to give into the negative feelings of naysayers or the complaints when literally drenched with bad weather, was a beautiful sight to behold and a wonderful message to take home.

Both of these events were described by the community as having a, “Burning Man vibe.” Techno and Pizza always brings us happiness and we want to share that feeling with everyone we encounter. We applaud All Day I Dream in being able to deliver such positive and memorable experiences. We look forward to many future connections.
