Ritter on the River

A few weeks ago, on a beautiful Sunday evening, as many slept away their boozy brunch buzz, were struggling to fight hangovers, or beginning to prepare their minds for work, a maritime gathering was held out on the Potomac River. We set sail with Loop DC, to partake in a fantastic journey aboard the Boomerang boat to see Lauren Ritter, an ADID artist, with a few of our closest friends. Opening for Lauren Ritter was Edo, a local Flash favorite who made us float off on some of the best vibes on the water. He opened the night as the boat pulled out into the Potomac. His sublime tracks set a tone for the cruise, as people’s drinks helped get rid of their previous night’s regrets. During the day, and into the night, guests of the party got a chance to view the nation’s most magnificent monuments and memorials in the orange, purple, and pink cotton candy skies.

The party was extremely diverse, international and integrated, almost like everyone knew one another. There were many friendly faces, smiles, and positive attitudes across the board. The average age was a bit older than you’d find at Echostage or Soundcheck, those who seek quality music rather than chasing the latest trends or fads. Lauren Ritter closed out the day with a pleasantly audible set that gave the last couple hours of the Soundwaves party a new life. She brought the melodic tunes that sparked nostalgia, and many other emotions for the crowd as they swayed in the summer breeze. Eventually the gorgeous evening on the Boomerang cruise had to end. Some went to Public for Sunglass Sundays to continue their night of debauchery and some went to Eighteenth Street Lounge. Though many had the upcoming Monday morning work day to fear, for many, the party continued. Techno and Pizza is looking forward to the next Soundwaves party with Raffi, and Canson, this Sunday. Stay tuned for updates from our experience.
