2 Years Of Midnight Project

It’s just past 3:30 AM in Washington DC, nightclubs were closing and having security bounce patrons out the door. “That’s it,” we ask ourselves, “but I’m not ready for the party to end!” What’s a party animal to do?

“Midnight Project” solves this late night animalistic conundrum. If exclusive, secretive, underground events that keep the location undisclosed until the very last minute get you pumped, then “Midnight Project” is the party for you. Deep Secrets, Sticky Fingers, and Nomad, throw a myriad of parties throughout the year, mainly at locations that stay under wraps until the day of. The parties are typically filled with an “anything goes” crowd, friendly strangers, techno and house music lovers, and an atmosphere that feels like everyone knows one another. The scene is exceedingly far from the fancy craft cocktail lounges on U Street, rooftop pool bars, or farm-to-table organic restaurants in Georgetown. It caters to those who are not interested in pretentious doormen, bottles, VIP tables, or partying with a mob of teens.

On Saturday July 30, 2 Years Of Midnight Project was celebrated w/ Norm Talley, Andy Grant, Hot Coffee, and R&B at the DC Eagle. Tucked far away in NE, behind what seemed like a strip of office buildings and industrial warehouses, was the DC Eagle. As we arrived, we could hear the thump of the beats from the parking lot, increasing our anticipation for what was to come. Getting through tickets and security was simple and once inside, the music was blaring in a good way and the vibe was intense. Midnight Project was rocking a beefed up sound system, in a small space with a ton of heart and soul. Norm Talley (Detroit) destroyed it with a bumping set, so bumping that every single person in the room was moving. He launched the crowd into outer space, into a far galaxy away from home with his astounding set. It was an awesome night that melded into morning. We look forward to the next Midnight Project event.

Ciao,
