On Friday October 13th, we dropped by Rumor in Center City, Philadelphia, to see our friend Mina, open up for Laidback Luke. Mina has produced and collaborated with some major players in the industry, opening for artists such as Green Velvet, Joseph Capriati, Claptone, Nicole Moudaber, Weiss, Carlo Lio, and Gina Turner, and was signed to Mixmash Records/Next Era as singer and songwriter. Some highlights include “Initiator” with Kandy—featured in DJ MAG 2016 and supported by many artists including Diplo, Major Lazer, RL Grime, and DJ 4B; “Beat of the Drum” with Laidback Luke & Angger Dimas, dropped at Ultra Festival 2015; “Unreal” with Solidisco & Firefowers; “Knock Down” with Ken Loi; Shelco Garcia & Teen Wolf; and many others. Mina does a great job of being in touch with the crowd, her energy levels reflect her radiant personality, and because of her we decided to check out Rumor.
Rumor has 4 rooms, 2 of them include DJs, 1 is the vault, and the other one is a large bar. Since we have not explored much of the Philadelphia nightlife yet, we did not know what to expect. As soon as we got past the front and entered the club, a cloud of clear, sound, enveloped us. We immediately fell in love with the crisp sound across the entire venue, which are Martin Audio (main room) and Funktion-Ones (lev room). Overall, it was a great place, with ample room to order drinks, no lines for the bathrooms, and both of the dance floors were still packed. We will definitely be checking back on their lineup to see when we can go next!
