On Friday January 12th, Papaya Playa Project converted into an imaginary fantasy universe called “Dancing into Dreams”. Thanks to Storytellers, Damian Lazarus, and team, we absorbed ourselves into an adventure that brought us to new levels of party proficiencies, bringing exceptional music, impeccable sound, beautiful people, art, and many live performances to life in an open-air setting. I still can’t get over how incredible this event was. Papaya Playa Project is surrounded by a sultry jungle, and is located right on the Caribbean Sea. The event included shamans, face/body painters, hair braiders, an organic vegan buffet, sacred musicians, a Fibonacci fire off to the side, and multiple chill areas.
Upon arrival we were greeted by helpful staff and handed a small gift bag that had a few different coupons in them that could be used to redeem surprises throughout the night/morning. It also included a colored stone necklace, which was meant to define the tribe you belong to. The coupons in the gift bag were perks that you could use to get your face painted, get a turban, face jewels, hair braiding, or grab a bite. We were pleased with the beautiful live Indian music by vocalist Pascal Caristo right at the front. We made sure to pay a visit back here a few times, because she was a delight.
As we walked further into the venue, a feeling of ahhhhhhh came upon me. I immediately knew that this was one of those parties that you can’t even describe in words. Every single thing was perfect, from the décor, the art, the sounds, the setup, and the weather. You could easily tell there were conscience-driven, high-spirited beings inhabiting the space around you. Behrouz, Art Department, and the wizard himself Damian Lazarus headlined the divine, and energizing temple of musical love, and devotion. Behrouz kicked it off, followed by Art Department throughout the night, and Damian brought the sunrise in with the track “Time” by Pachanga Boys. That track gives me goosebumps and tears at the same time, what a nice choice for that beautiful morning.
All throughout the event, we heard exotic beats, mysterious vocals, storybook sounds, and we danced to the beat of our existence – echoing devoutness while embracing one other, sharing life stories, and swaying to the beats brought by these talented artists. This event was truly enchanting, giving me a total mind body, and soul reset, and I am counting down the days until the next one.
